Customer in the spotlight: the Diamant Group

In September 2020, we installed several chargers at Diamant-groep. At the front of the building, three double chargers were installed for staff and visitors. These provide 11 kW per socket. At the rear of the building, a double charger was installed specifically for the delivery vans, which can also deliver 11 kW per socket. Thanks to the close coordination and preparation with Diamant-groep, we were able to complete the entire project within two days.

Both we and Diamant-groep look back on a positive collaboration. To gain more insight into how Diamant-groep experienced the installation and the process, we visited them again for an interview with Leo Doomen, Coordinator of Building Management at Diamant-groep.

Why did you decide to switch to electric driving?

“Sustainability is becoming increasingly important, the requirements are also getting closer, and as a company we place great value on sustainable entrepreneurship. In addition, companies are subject to the EED obligation, which means that you must map out your sustainability requirements and be able to demonstrate every five years that you are on the right track. There is also the reporting obligation for energy-saving measures.

This states that every energy-saving measure that can be recouped within five years must be implemented, provided this is financially feasible.

Because our company’s CO₂ emissions are mainly influenced by fuel-powered vehicles, the switch to electric driving is a logical step. In addition, Diamant-groep plans to install around 2,200 solar panels in the summer. This means that the energy used by the vehicles will be generated on-site.”

How did you find us and what was the decisive factor in choosing us?

“We started looking for various providers, including parties such as Enexis. We found 50five through their sister website Groenopladen.nl, which is now also part of 50five. After comparing prices and implementation speed, it became clear that 50five was the most suitable partner for us. Because Diamant-groep’s electric cars had already been ordered, a quick installation of the charging stations was essential.”

Doomen explains that he considered good project preparation to be important. In this regard, he refers to a site survey at Diamant-groep, so it would be clear what needed to be done and which materials were required for this specific installation.

Doomen: “Together with Maurice van Dongen, Account Manager E-Mobility at 50five, I went through the entire situation and received a targeted quotation based on that, with no surprises.”

The process

After requesting a tailored quotation, 50five got in touch to carry out an on-site assessment and an appointment was scheduled to determine within what timeframe the installation could be completed. It was important that the installation could take place within four weeks, which was no problem at all.

Doomen: “I experienced no disruption at all throughout the entire process.”

In consultation with Diamant-groep, a specific date was scheduled for the start of the installation. For this, Diamant-groep cleared the car park and completed all preparations they could take care of themselves. A boom lift was ready, the delivered materials were neatly placed on a pallet, and the areas where the installers needed to work had been cleared.

When asked how he experienced the installers, Doomen says: “Neat guys, skilled implementation staff.”

After the installation, the charging stations could be used immediately once the vehicles arrived. Later, a 50five installer configured the connections so that all charging sessions would be registered correctly and invoiced automatically. This also went smoothly.

Doomen: “I am pleased with the organisation and the way they supported us in implementing the charging facilities.”

Everything went as expected, without any unforeseen additional costs. Finally, Doomen indicates that he will contact 50five again when Diamant-groep’s charging facilities are further expanded.

Electric driving at Diamant-groep

The staff at Diamant-groep have now already become accustomed to the charging stations: “Two managers have exchanged their current lease cars for electric versions. These are connected to the chargers daily. The drivers of the electric delivery vans have also fully got used to plugging them into the chargers after use.”

To prevent random people from charging their cars at Diamant-groep’s expense, we ensured after the installation that the charging stations can only be activated with a 50five e-mobility charging card registered in the name of Diamant-groep.
